April 7, 2010
Hello Fellow Tea Party Patriots,
Our big event is just one week away. You will find there is a lot of information in this email. Please go through it thoroughly and participate where you can!First off, this Saturday is our Breakfast with candidate for Governor Charlie Baker. Saturday, April 10th 9:00 - 10:30 AM Doubletree Hotel 5400 Computer Drive, Westborough MA. There is no cost for this event. Let's get there, hear what he has to say and ask some tough questions. MA is in dire need of smart, responsible leadership. We all need to engage in this debate. We heard from Christy Mihos and we will hear from TIm Cahill as well. Come out on Saturday and hear from the candidate leading in the polls. RSVP.
Next - If you have volunteered to work at next Wednesday's Tea Party Express Rally on the Common, please try to stop in to our training session on Sunday, April 11th. This should only take 30 minutes. And a big thank you to the Marriott for donating the space! Please remember this when you need to hold an event. Sunday, April 11th 3:00 - 5:00 PM, Waltham Courtyard Marriott 387 Winter Street, Waltham.
We will send out volunteer instructions to all who have signed up on Friday as well. If you do not sign up, we will not have a name badge for you - critical to identifying you as a volunteer on the 14th. Many have signed up online or at a meeting. Please sign up now if you have not. Those of you who have attended meetings or demonstrations over the past months may have had the chance to meet John and Vanessa, two college students who are doing a research project on our group. They have created a survey they are asking us to participate in. Please take 5 minutes to complete it. They are smart and earnest students who are trying to better understand what our movement is about. Survey.
And finally, thank you to all who have generously donated to our group. We are incurring nearly $1500 in expenses for next week and are half way there. If you can donate even $10, please do so today. Any funds remaining after the Rally will go towards our Speaker Series and GOTV efforts later this year. Please make a donation - @ PayPal or mail to Greater Boston Tea Party PO Box 6545, Holliston MA 01746-6545.
Thanks for all your efforts in preserving and defending our Liberty! Volunteer info on Friday and a list of MA Tax Day events on Sunday! See you on the Common April 14th!

P.S. To give you an idea of how quickly the media perception is changing, look at the quote below - from Time Magazine. If they are accurately portraying our movement, we are making inroads faster than even we ever imagined possible. Keep the faith. Enjoy the next week. And prepare for a tough yet exciting 7 months!
These sorts of decisions are part of the maturation process Tea Party veterans are trying to navigate. "There are phases people go through. They come to the Tea Party, they're angry, they're hysterical, they're panicked, and they need someone to tell [them] what to do to fix all this," says Christen Varley of the Boston Tea Party. "We have to talk them off the ledge and bring them around to understand that they have a role and a responsibility." Varley, 40, is a smart, fast-talking woman who knows that winning a competitive game requires mastering its rules. "People want to change the system. They want less government involvement," she says. "But they need to understand how it works right now. We can't just stand outside the Capitol shouting at people. We have to go about it a different way." For Varley, that means learning how to lobby, recruiting candidates, and distributing questionnaires that clarify candidates' positions. "Political parties exist to win votes for people," she says. "The Tea Party should exist to win votes for principles."Read more.
