Googling to get up to speed on self-described "Social Media Savant" Kinsey Schofield, we stumbled upon this January 2009 "Petition Spot" item: "Kinsey Schofield wants to be on Red Eye!" Where there's a will there's a way. Schofield is apparently a regular on the show these days. We caught our first glimpse of her in the wee hours this morning and discovered that for all the glitz and glamour, when it comes to social media savvy, Kinsey Schofield is no Sarah Palin. See below for more.
"Did anyone in your life ever tell you you couldn't accomplish something and you showed them you did it," asks "nationally recognized writer, social media strategist, and TV personality" Kinsey Schofield (above) in a question that implies its own resounding, self-affirmative answer: "Yes!" Sounds a lot like something Sarah "out of her comfort zone" Palin would say. Yet on Red Eye in the wee hours this morning the comely occupant of "The Leg Chair" essentially agreed with Karl Rove's grim dismissal of Sarah's "gravitas." Her only caveat was that Rove should have chosen his words more carefully so as not to hurt Palin fans' delicate feelings.
"I heard a rumor that [America's Sweetheart Steven] Crowder is going to be on #redeye tonight," twittered Kinsey Schofield yesterday in a deft display of her social-media savvy, titillating her 42,102 followers and prospective Red Eye viewers with this show stopper: "I'm so excited I could pee."
No need to worry about Palin fans' feelings, Ms. Schofield. Tea partiers that we are, we believe in American exceptionalism and can see the Shining City from our front porch. Like Sarah, we're "embracing and exploiting social media in new ways" that allow us to "bypass the tired gateway media and shape 'the narrative' in our own image." While friend and foe alike are raving about the physical "grandeur that is Alaska" and the grizzly grit of its citizens in "Sarah Palin's Alaska," the Dean of Dourness sees only a glass half empty:
"With all due candour, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of 'that helps me see you in the Oval Office,’” Mr Rove told The Daily Telegraph in an interview.
He added that the promotional clip for Sarah Palin’s Alaska could be especially detrimental to any political campaign. It features the mother of five in the great outdoors saying: “I would rather be doing this than in some stuffy old political office.”
In this season of "term limits by other means," it is exactly those citizen legislators — like our own candidate of choice to retire Barney Frank, Marine and businessman Sean Bielat — who would rather be enjoying the great outdoors than "in some stuffy old political office" that we want to send to Washington. "Time for the 'fuddy duddies' to lighten up, writes Cubachi, who wonders "If Karl Rove objects to Palin's show, what would he have said about Reagan?":
Rove must be worried that a new audience will actually see the Sarah Palin all of us know and admire, and not the Palin the elite in the liberal and republican beltway portrayed her to be …
Sarah Palin is not going with the flow. She is following the Reagan model of going outside the norm and confronting new audiences.
Be sure to treat yourself to Cubachi's links to vintage videos of our 40th President leaving 'em rolling in the aisles with Sonny & Cher and roasting Dean Martin, and then head over to Sarah Palin's for a rousing and definitive answer to Dan Riehl's question of the year, "Dude, Who Stole My List?":
"Lisa, are you going to shut down my Facebook page for writing this."

Sissy Willis got there a week ahead of me, noting some anti-Palin comments by the occupant of the Red Eye "leg chair."
