"Peace be upon you, screamed the headline in Arabic on Drudge this morning, linking to the story of a political war of words that refused to go peacefully into the Friday-afternoon bad-news dump": Mosque controversy swirls around Obama." Drudge is known for what Ann Althouse calls his "devious subliminal attacks," artful juxtapositions of words and images. By chance we caught a "Change It Back" t-shirt ad in our screengrab (above), adding insult to self-inflicted injury. The subheads tell the story: "Obama Strongly Backs Islam Center Near 9/11 Site … Controversy swells," "O FALLS TO NEW LOW AT GALLUP DAILY," "FED OFFICIAL WARNS OF 'DANGEROUS GAMBLE." "I'm dizzy from the shadenfreude," wrote twitterbuddy Kevin Whalen.
"The message? FU America," twittered Kevin Whalen — aka Pundit Review of Boston's WRKO — early morning in response to a House Democratic leadership aide's unwitting revelation of our political establishment's cravenness, responding to a Washington Post reporter's question about President Obama's waffling remarks regarding the appropriateness of what is now known in twitterspeak as #gzm (Ground Zero Mosque):
It's just another day off message. There've been a lot of days off message.
Fun finding from the Site Meter stats: A TripAdvisor New York City forum on "Ground Zero Noise" veers off into reality with two things of note (above): 1. An Aussie's total cluelessness about the meaning of the expression "Ground Zero" in the hearts and minds of everyday Americans like ourselves: "I think the term stops people being able to move on" and 2. A link to our own "Obama: 'Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground, but.'"
The great unexamined issue of our time — how to acknowledge and engage in a reasoned debate about the role of Islam in the scourge of Islamist terrorism — is finally on the table thanks to #gzm (see above), yet our myopic friends on the left side of the aisle, those "vulnerable" Democrats looking towards November and not beyond, are obsessed with their President's being "off message." Our own Liberty Pundits Mama Grizzly Melissa Clouthier cleanses the palate of all who would continue to swallow the politically correct swill being peddled by the "religion of peace" snake-oil salesmen. A couple of excerpts, and then read the whole thing:
This is basic human psychology. Thank God the vast majority of Americans get it, while the Smarty Pants Set, including the President, once again talk in theory as if a real building a real block away from a real graveyard doesn’t exist.
Americans are not anti-Islam, but maybe they should be. They live and work with Muslims peacefully. They are pleased that Muslim women and children are getting educated and freed from the evil of totalitarian domination. They are happy that Saddam Hussein isn’t around to torture, kill and bury whole communities for some sadistic reason.
And the GOP is no more anti-Islam than the American people – which is to say they aren’t. They are being rational, though. They understand what’s happening in New York and finally, they’re fighting back against the political taboos – willing to stand and be outraged at the outrageous.
As for Islam. I suspect that the GOP and American people aren’t anti-Islam because they don’t know enough history.

If we don't vote those who hate America and those who steal our freedom out of office at the first opportunity we may not get another chance.

I posted a heartfelt rant on the subject of the mosque at Ground Zero on Friday and the fact that I think it's high time we insisted that OUR sensitivities be respected for a freaking change! If they won't do it, we'll have to start electing those who will because enough is enough is enough! And Goomp is as usual, with very few trenchant words, right on the money! Gadzooks Sissy he is a TREASURE!

Michelle Obama's Allah-day
Why was Michelle Obama spreading "stimulus" money during her sheik-like holiday in Spain? Do you suppose Barack Hussein Obama told her he can't get re-elected without the votes of Hispanics who aren't American citizens and she thought he meant the non-American Hispanics living in Spain?
At least those foreigners are much better than "voters" in American cemeteries!
BTW, in 1928 Herbert Hoover's campaign promised that if he were elected there would be "a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage."
Well, Obama has come up with a Hoover twist and says that if he's re-elected there will be "a chick in every car and some pot in every garage"!
For some insights into Obamessiah and his think-alikes, Google "Obama Avoids Bible Verses," "Obama Supports Public Depravity," "Government-Approved Illegals," and "Imam Bloomberg's Sharia Mosque."
Have you noticed that America's "Christian" president has favorites? See search engines including Google and type in "Obama Favors Islam Over Christianity." If minority groups in America keep getting special "status," will the USA become known as the United Status of America?
I wonder how soon Obama will "come out" and admit he's a Muslim!!

FireDogLake, supposedly one of those "intellectual" lefty sites, poured the hate on Charles Krauthammer: "note the conflation of Islam with a nationality, as though American Muslims—who also died on 9/11—are somehow foreign, and therefore, it’s 'provocative' for them to practice their religion in the US’s largest city."
They seriously think that American conservatives would be more comfortable with a "cultural center" built by American Neo-Nazis or American convert Islamist triumphalists than with one built by modern, innocent, foreign Germans, Japanese or thoroughly progressive Egyptian (for example) Muslims? PhD commenter LFC agrees with FDL.
Because conservatives fear foreigners more than evil ideologies, in the minds of liberals.

The 9/11 attack was a triumph of violent islam over peaceful, American-style Islam (well, peaceful except for a minority of Islamist extremists and Muslim army psychologists). Even if the backers of the project had totally innocent intentions, what would keep violent Islamists from taking control once the Cordoba House was built? Such a powerful, irresistible symbol of triumph. Scheduled to open on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, probably before the memorial.
Local authorities wouldn't allow the Orthodox church destroyed in the attack to be re-built taller than the proposed memorial. Why allow the Cordoba House to be taller? Scared?
