"She's the one they always send out into foul weather to do her reporting," writes our imail correspondent, delighted to learn that Massachusetts GOP Senatorial candidate Scott Brown's wife is someone we've "known" for years, Boston's sweetheart of a tough on-the-scene WCVB-TV general assignment news reporter Gail Huff. Until now somewhat wary of our own embrace of Brown's anti-Obamacare candidacy for the Kennedy seat, to be decided in a special election January 19, our correspondent quips "I like Brown better already."
"In the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, Republican Scott Brown might benefit from a backlash against the Bay State's own failing health insurance plan," writes Rand Simberg at Pajamas Media:
Sissy Willis [!] proposes that it be made a referendum on the potential national catastrophe being masticated by Congress, with the latest milestone the corrupt passage of the Senate version as early coal in the nation’s stocking on Christmas Eve. It has the potential to be a brilliant political move …
If a Republican running against ObamaCare managed to pick up the seat of Ted Kennedy, or even come close to doing so, it would be a political earthquake of Richter 8+. What would that say about the popularity of the bill if it wasn’t even a winning issue in the state that had the most first-hand experience with it, not to mention in the election to replace the senator who had been a leading proponent of it? It would make it very difficult for the Democrats to continue to delude themselves that this legislation is a winning issue in the country at large, if it clearly wasn’t in one of the bluest of the blue states.
In that regard, former Gov Mitt Romney, a strong Brown supporter, may have some 'splainin' to do. From the Brown camp itself, good news:
“There has been an explosion of interest in Scott Brown’s campaign, and a lot of his fund-raising energy is coming from online donations,” said senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom, who added that most of Brown’s money has come from small donations. We gave a modest sum ourselves just yesterday, not our first, and the bloggers and twitterers are making a big push for donations of money and time. Now that you can phone bank from your own home, there's really no excuse:
Anyone across the country who is interested in making calls from home to citizens of Massachusetts on Scott Brown's behalf, please contact Field Director Brad Hansen at:

Finally, just for fun, check out Brown's and Coakley's dueling TV ads, where JFK morphs into Scott Brown, and Martha Coakley trots out the hoary "Bush's fault!"
Update: Speaking of fun, check out The New Republic's Marty Peretz's answer to the question "Can a Republican Really Win Teddy's Seat?" [via Maggie's Farm]:
Brown compares himself to John Kennedy in a just-released television spot. Well, the Dems have gone hysterical. This is a sign of their (incipient) panic. Maybe their panic is apt.
Last time the Dems went this hysterical was when Sarah Palin knocked the socks off Red-State America!
Update II: HillBuzz has everything you always wanted to know about Hottie McAwesome but were afraid to ask. It's a hoot and may or may not be SFW.
Update III: "Martha Coakley's Political House On Fire," headlines fellow blogger/online Brown campaigner extraordinaire William A. Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, who links:
Brown has gone viral, is gaining support, and money really is pouring into his campaign, which is astounding because just three weeks ago he was relatively unknown. Three things have happened in the last three weeks to make this election competitive … The political story of 2010? Martha Coakley's political house caught fire while she was on vacation. The only question is, will the house burn to the ground by January 19?
Be sure to go over and savor every delicious word!
Update IV: Instalanche!
RAND SIMBERG: Will Health Care Reform Tip Senate Race to GOP in Massachusetts?
It will if Sissy Willis has her way.
Thank you, Professor Reynolds, for your leadership in disintermediating the old-boy networks via the Internet.
I find it hard to believe that most democrats can't understand the failure of the party line, but if the efforts of bloggers, tea party patriots and others can convince enough of them to show a victory or a strong showing for Scott Brown it may put the fear of truth into the thinking of may democart officeholders. Keep up the good efforts.

Just FYI, yard signs are running strongly in Brown's favor here on our little piece of Cape Cod. For every Coakley sign, there are abour four for Brown.
Imagine that!
