"This wicked precious greyhound was one of 100-plus peaceful protesters who gathered outside Newburyport City Hall for the Essex County Tea Party and Rally this afternoon to just say no to creeping/leaping statism," we captioned the above image from our first-ever baby step into the tea party maelstrom last March. Note to Bird Dog of Maggie's Farm: This dog's for you!
The Leader of the Free World is coming to town — Portsmouth NH, just down the pike about 50 miles north of us here in Chelsea-by-the-Sea, Taxachusetts — day after tomorrow, and a bunch of us are planning to give President Obama an old-fashioned New Hampshire "Live Free or Die" welcome [We were born in Exeter, NH, so have earned our stripes]. We wanna let him know what we think of his grandiose plans to take over 15% of the American economy and all that. Since you asked, we're with Charles Krauthammer's disarmingly simple, two-point program, tort reform and portability.
Our "Just say no" teaparty signs from the Essex County Tea Party and Rally in Newburyport, MA last March will say it nicely in 140 characters or less.
If you live nearby or are lucky enough to be vacationing along the magnificent Eastern Seaboard of Southern New England, please consider joining us:
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Portsmouth High School, 50 Andrew Jarvis Drive, Portsmouth, NH
"Democrat boy wonder Barack Obama's racist-lite statement to the effect that people with our politics wouldn't vote for an African-American anyway is akin to the fraudulent sexism that would be implied were Hillary to say 'Are some voters not going to vote for me because I’m a woman? Those are the same voters who probably wouldn’t vote for me because of my politics,'" we captioned these images in our prescient post "Did Obama just call me a racist" way back in December of 2006 when candidate Obama made his first visit to Portsmouth, NH.
We first heard about the POTUS's imminent arrival in our neck of the woods this morning from Newburyport's Voice blogger and Chairman of the Newburyport GOP, comrade in arms Larry Giunta, who pointed us to the White House's "Portsmouth Town Hall" page, where we learned that it was to be a ticketed affair, and they were already sold out. Then in over the transom came "A message to all members of The Official MA-NH Independence Day Tea Party" with a link to the Facebook page of "Anti-Obamacare rally in Portsmouth, NH," where they're loaded for bear:
Barack Hussein [Gack. Wish they weren't promulgating THAT hoary distraction] Obama will be arriving in Portsmouth on Tuesday to hold a STAGED "Town Hall Meeting," where he will essentially hand pick who the guests will be and what types of questions will be asked of him.
A MASSIVE protest rally is being organized just outside.
There will be news media from all over the world at this event, and it will be the ideal opportunity for us to tell the rest of the country exactly how NH voters feel about Obamacare (taxed/rationed healthcare). It will be the most important pro-liberty event of the year in NH, and it is critically important that every one of us attend.
Come anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (peak time will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Air Force One will be touching down at nearby Pease Air National Guard Base around 12:30 p.m. and departing 3:20 p.m. We're planning to arrive early to find parking and such. Probably head over to one of Portsmouth's charming eateries for drinks and supper afterwards. Google map shows Portsmouth High is just off Rte 1 N. Hope we'll see you there!
Update Monday morning from Larry Giunta:
Primary Location: Rallying point for info and direction will be parking lot by old theater next to Bowl-a-rama on Lafayette (Rte 1 North) Rd. There'll be people there as of 7:30 a.m. to direct you. Why so early? Groups supporting Obama have been asked to be there at 8 a.m. so they can take the better spots. Feel free to stop there early if you are able. Remember, this is going to be a big event so come prepared.
Secondary Location: If you only have a an hour or two, a secondary location has been established along the road entering the back gate of Pease Trade Port. Our rallying point will be the C & J Terminal in the overflow parking area, open at 8:30. We think the President's limo will come out from the National Guard Terminal or the Main Hangar. Probably won't know for sure until after we are there so we will inform you where to go at that time.
"Remember to bring anything you might require for your comfort: water, folding chairs, food, etc. We are not funded so are unable to provide these for you." But don't tell Nancy Pelosi. It would ruin her self-justifying narrative to find out we're not mercenaries.
Obama: "Don't call me Boy...Wonder!"
