"Time? They still have that? I haven't read it for decades," we snarkily twittered in response to WaPo/CNN Beltway society chronicler Howard Kurtz's latest tweet:
Fair and balanced? Whassat? How about reporting the facts, ma'am, just the facts? Or, if you're an opinion journal of "voices," acknowledge it up front rather than continuing the charade that you're a newsmagazine. Probably has to do with feeling-good-about-oneself "empathy" and such, like our President's admission that he has no use for the rule of law — vs the rule of I-know-better-than-you-what's-good-for-you men like himself — upon which this Shining City Upon a Hill was built. They know they are right. End of discussion.
Thomas Sowell in "'Empathy Versus Law" and Jeff Jacoby in "Lady Justice's blindfold" present the case for the defense.
Update: "Old bottles, now dispensing even older whines," quips Ed Driscoll, who links with "That 'Crying Reagan' Cover Should Have Been Your First Clue."
Update II: All things bright and beautiful, fair and balanced port to starboard at Modulator's Friday Ark #243.
Yes. Time marched on right past being a newsmagazine to being an opinion propagandist. In the 1940's and 50's Time was the best. Now it is garbage.
