"RNC elects first African-American Chairman," reads the Fox News banner late afternoon. A great weight lifts. Our heart soars. We haven't felt this good about the Republican Party and the national debate since John McCain announced Sarah Palin for his running mate. We LOVE Michael Steele, a man of principle and first class all the way, a regular Fox News talking head who graciously outshines whichever lesser light representing the other side of the aisle happens to sit opposite him, always with perfect tact and good humor. Being down and out, licking one's wounds and looking inward is sometimes the best thing for getting back in touch with your inner conservative. Maybe the Republicans aren't the Stupid Party anymore?
Listen here for Glenn Reynolds and Michelle Malkin's December 17 PJTV interview of the man of steel who's "trying to shake up the Republican Party as the next head of the NRC." Joe the Plumber's in there too.
Hopefully, as Abraham Lincoln said,"a new birth of freedom".

Great post! I was so happy to learn that Michael is the new RNC chairman! Does this mean that the Republican Party FINALLY GETS IT and now realizes that Conservative values and the people who live by them are the way for us to win back the White House in 2012?
Go SARAH - 2012!! And Michael is going to help her WIN!

Michael Steele was my choice all along and I am thrilled that he won. He is extremely articulate, forceful and not afraid to express his conservative convictions. I will definitely be supporting him in his efforts.

I was definitely very glad to hear this news. Let's hope he's good enough to whip the Republican party into shape. Or at the very least get them to acknowledge they need some fixing to get the job done.

Michael Steele is well named. Consider the four primary tasks of St. Michael:
To fight against Satan.
To rescue the souls of the faithful from the power of the enemy, especially at the hour of death.
To be the champion of God's people, the Jews in the Old Law, the Christians in the New Testament; therefore he was the patron of the Church, and of the orders of knights during the Middle Ages.
To call away from earth and bring men's souls to judgment.
I'm thinking OUR Michael will have his work cut out for him, but he will be equal to the task. If nothing else, THIS Michael - a man of dignity, intelligence and all around quality - will provide an unerring contrast to our current president - a man whose sterling qualities are more ephemeral than real.

This former Republican, who quit the party in abject disgust in 2006, sees Michael Steele's election as RNC chief as a hopeful sign. He has the right pedigree and *all* the right enemies. (The Religious Right, in particular, does not like him. Good.)
