Anita Kuntz's 1993 NYT Sunday Mag illustration of "Saint Hillary" graced what Peggy Noonan later called "the first and still definitive Hillary Clinton take-down." Update: "Saint Hillary" now available on our own website. Editor's note 8/14/13: Airbrushed from the New York Times online during the 2007-08 primary, the article has apparently been restored: "Saint Hillary" by Michael Kelly.
"At the intersection of vanity and liberalism" -- one of our Hillary! blogposts of last September -- linked to the only known online source* of "Saint Hillary," a hot item (apparently repressed by the NYT, which has blacked it out) in the blogosphere today thanks to Charles Krauthammer's citation ("Saint Obama awaits his Michael Kelly") of the late, great Michael Kelly's May 23, 1993 NYT Sunday Mag cover article. Dubbed by Peggy Noonan a decade later "the first and still definitive Hillary Clinton take-down," Kelly's long, deliciously devastating essay of the woman who would be Leader of the Free World had set our Vast-Right-Wing-Conspiracy antennae to vibrating way back when, before anyone even knew there WAS a VRWC. As we wrote last September:
At the time the article appeared back in 1993, we snail-blogged it with much underlining and feverish scribbling in the margins and passed it around to friends for comments. Our original copy got lost in the shuffle, but the article was reprinted in Kelly's posthumous Things Worth Fighting For, and now -- despite apparent efforts by the higher powers that be to repress it . . . the entire "Saint Hillary" article is available online thanks to blogger Winston Churchill of Semper Fido.
In these too-little-too-late days of vindication for us long-suffering VRWC types who had Miss Hillary's number from day one, the reflexively left-wing MSMs current tossing of their old toy -- the Clintons -- in favor of the new -- Obama & Company -- is bittersweet. Great to see the Clintons get what was coming to them, but for what? More of the same old same old big government intervention in the lives of a once proudly free people. John McCain is looking better and better.
Update: Our friend The News Junkie at Maggie's Farm links:
Virtue sure can be creepy when combined with vanity and power.
Haven't we always said all things Clinton make our skin crawl?
Update II: Ed Driscoll links.
*No longer available as of July 2013. Update IV: Now available here and here.
Thanks for reminding us of the great Michael Kelly article and giving us the click to see it again. The Crusades were a disaster, and we don't need Hill or Obama to lead us on another disastrous journey. We have to elect John McCain or face disaster not seen before in the USA.

Thank you for that link. I searched the NYTimes last night and only found a few letters to the editor about the piece.
