Pie Dough Derangement Syndrome (PDDS). That's what was bothering us yesterday. We arose with the puddies this morning at the crack of dawn, rolled up our sleeves and rolled out the dough.
The minute the pie was in the oven, our PDDS cloud lifted.
We had prepared a double batch and turned the extra dough into nature's perfect food, pinwheels with sugar, cinnamon and butter.
PDDS !!!
pinwheels and apple pie !
yuuuuummmmm...
my eyes are all watered up, as my stomach is now growling.
i will never forget, returning home for one Christmas, stunned to find out my Mother did not have time to bake her homemade apple pie.
shocked when seeing and tasting the store purchased replacement, knowing it was not HERS the moment it hit the table.
a true horror story indeed, but she was actually pleased to see my disappointment, as it proved the best compliment to her amazing talents.
NOW !
i like your photos of your amazing cooking...
they are real art in my book...
but here is a blog i stumbled upon, with cookies that are simply hard to believe are genuine.

Merry Christmas Sissy! The pie looks wonderful. Apple is my favorite. My mopther used to take the leftover pie dough to make little cookies with sugar, cinnamon and butter. My most traumatic experience in the kitchen happened when I was about eight years old and begged my mother to let me make the pie dough cookies. I thought I knew how but learned I didn't. Instead of sugar, I sprinkled salt, and for the cinnamon, I added pepper. Mother threw them out.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you Sissy. Hugs to you, Tuck, and Goomp, pets for all the kitties. I hope you have a wonderful day! I'll be baking a pie too (although I don't have lard available - I get pretty close).

I really envy anyone who can make a good pie crust. Mine could be used for body armor.
Thank goodness for Pillsbury!
