As we start organizing foodstuffs and table-decoration items for the movable feast that will be Easter Dinner at Goomp's, Baby pauses in the aftermath of a good snort of catnip.
"It’s a classic case of a bad plan, poorly executed. A rational person would ask, ‘What’s so good about it?’” reports ScrappleFace in a brilliant double ententre that resonates on this most holy of holy days in the Christian calendar:
While Christians around the world gather for so-called “Good Friday” observances, an intelligence analyst studying primary source documents challenged the “irrational exuberance of the true believers,” and said his research to date indicates things did not go according to plan.
“At this point, you have a leader in whom a lot of people had placed their hopes, who failed miserably,” said the unnamed source who is in the process of translating and exploiting the documents. “There’s no progress — no movement at all."
“You can call it Good Friday if you wish,” he said, “but that’s just spin. I can’t say it any clearer, ‘It is finished.’” Be sure to read it all. Scott Ott is a genius.
Unaware yet that she and her brother will soon be joining us for the hated car ride Down East -- they both LOVE it once they get there -- Tiny grooms beside the giant faux-chocolate bunny.
"It is part of the prophecy of Christ, of course, and I am by no means suggesting that Bush is to be compared to the Christ -- the savior -- except in this way," writes The Anchoress, rather along the same lines:
He follows the example of the Master -- the example laid out by Christ -- especially as we are to contemplate and learn from Him, this very week.
President Bush drives us crazy. We want him to fight back. He won’t. We want him to “save” himself. He won’t. He won’t “save” his presidency, either. He won’t “save” his party. He won’t “save” his legacy.
President Bush is doing what is unthinkable -- he is staying true to the task laid out before him, to serve all the people. He is remaining faithful to that and he is counting on his God to do the rest, as his God has promised.
Another must read. One more snippet from The Anchoress's post just because it is so good and so true:
In an era when every special-interest group demands satisfaction for real or imagined “slights,” when Christians try to insist upon respectfulness from the arts, and radical Islamists demand blood or force conversions for any perceived “insult,” this Christian man stands before the world and insists only that the course of liberty be pursued and that he be allowed to protect the safety, rights and freedoms of his citizens. He does not insist that you treat him well. Quite the opposite. He looks at something you can’t see and he allows you to say anything about him you want to, and he holds fast to a promise.
More Good Friday table-top grooming moments in the morning sun. Note Tiny's pink tongue, echoing faux-chocolate bunny's color accents and tip of pink napkins lower left.
Our outrage at Nancy Pelosi & Company's shadow foreign policy parade has had us in high dudgeon for the last couple of days. Opinion Journal today sums it up:
If there was any doubt that her trip was intended as far more than a routine Congressional "fact-finding" trip, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Tom Lantos put it to rest by declaring that, "We have an alternative Democratic foreign policy. I view my job as beginning with restoring overseas credibility and respect for the United States" . . .
With her trip, Ms. Pelosi has now reassured the Syrian strongman that Mr. Bush lacks the domestic support to impose any further pressure on his country. She has also made it less likely that Mr. Assad will cooperate with the Hariri probe, or assist the Iraqi government in defeating Baathist and al Qaeda terrorists.
Prime Minister Nancy could use a good dose of Scott Ott and The Anchoress. One more time:
He/he [Christ/GW] looks at something you can't see and he allows you to say anything about him you want to, and he holds fast to a promise.
"He trusted in God; let him deliver him . . ." (Matthew 27:40-44, King James Version)
Update: Modulator delivers the animals -- with and without backbones -- at Friday Ark #133.
Update II: The Anchoress links with Heroes & Villains; a God Help Us Good Friday Linkfest: Lots of bloggy soulfood.
The so called failure of Christ was followed by the collapse of the dominant civilization. Are we witnessing the same type of occurrence?

I think that the Dems and Speaker Pelosi have achieved (about 2 months earlier than I expected it to happen) their "Jump the Shark" moment ("Jump the Shark" refers to the episode of Happy Days when, very close to the end of the season, they had Fonzie ride his motorcycle off a ramp and over shark-infested waters, thus proving that the show was soon to be over).
My reason for believing this is that the Washington Post has very pointedly criticized Madame Speaker's trip AND the Associated Press is writing critical pieces about her as well. When the news media that normally props you up is starting to tear you down, you are so OVER.
I believe this is happening so quickly because Speaker Pelosi is making herself look like an incompetent clown on a daily basis and has done since January. This is a clear threat to Herself over in the Senate and could be used to derail the Junior Senator from New York's presidential juggernaut. No woman must threaten the Queen of Chappaqua and if a woman does threaten her, then she must be put firmly and permanently in her place.
I give this cabal of cretins currently running the House of Representatives about another six weeks and then heads will start rolling, so to speak.
Meanwhile, hugs to all of you as you journey "Down East" and have a joyous and festive Holiday with the family and the fabulous goomp!

If Pelosi did actually say these things, then she has committed treason and can be executed, if found guilty.

Happy Easter !
I say put US prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald on it. He got his liberal street cred with the Libby verdict in the no crime committed Plame idiocy prosecution.

Sam and Tim already have their vet appointment for Thursday 5/24 in the afternoon. They will be sojourning overnight in preparation for my move from Ohio to Virginia. I will pick them up on Friday AFTER the contents of the apartment are loaded and ready to roll. At that point, they will be mildly tranquilized (especially TIM who bitches non-stop when in the car) so that I don't run all 3 of us off the road during the 7 hours en route to new home in Virginia.
Got a nice little 3-bedroom brick house with an entirely new kitchen (hubba, hubba) including appliances - 4 doors down the street from my sister's house!
