This was the morning God surely meant for Easter Sunday three weeks ago when a small group of worshippers gathered across the river from Goomp's early morning for a Sunrise Service at the Stage Neck Inn, only to be frustrated by a bank of low-lying clouds at the mouth of the river. Compare yesterday's somewhat obscured daybreak.
We've got the First Cookout of the Season to prepare here down Goomp's, but Tiny and Baby made sure we got up with the chickens and caught the special magic of the dawn's early light.
A new artform: Autoreflection. Above, branches of a Red Oak and the neighbor's house during sunrise reflected off the hood of our own little Chevy Blazer
More of the same, this time stepping back to show the neighbor's house in the background. Note reflections of rising sun blazing in ground-floor windows, upper right.
A reverse anamorphosis of the neighbor's house in the SUV's rear window.
Now off to the kitchen to see a man about a groaning board. On tap: Grilled rib eyes, marinated strips, sausages, dogs -- Fenway Franks!-- and burgers plus salad, potato salad and peas. Steamed salmon fillets with Wheat thins and mayo for 'doibs. Oh, and corn on the cob. Can you say rushing the season? Tough (kernels).
Sounds lovely. We will be grilling too, but the spread will be a tad bit smaller (only 2 people to feed *grin*) with salmon on the menu. Haven't figured out what else - but we will find some other goodies to add. This will be our first venture into grilling salmon on our new gas grill. Should be fun.

That sounded like a feast! I was gone for only two days this past week but before that I had a party at my house after work and getting ready for that had me tired before I left town. But we had fun. It's always a thrill to see your child shining like a star. I wish you had posted a photo of some of that food! I don't want to cook tonight. Your photos are beautiful!
