Angel Baby, AKA Sweet Tiny Pea, had a productive, adventure-filled morning. First thing after breakfast, she and Baby, out on their tethers, were triangulating in the meatloaf position with an orange tabby intruder. The orange tabby was the first to blink, whereupon the Chelsea Grays, in a rush of adrenalin-fueled rage, managed to drag the heavy wrought-iron outdoor table to which they were tethered several feet across the brick terrace. The sound effects were savage, and the orange cat beat a hasty retreat.
Back inside, Baby lured us upstairs for high-level talks and then withdrew behind open doors -- the linen closet -- for some serious meeping of our L.L. Bean flannel sheets.
Mmm. Flannel sheets. Heavy purring and kneading of paws.
Drawn by the sound of high-level talks, Tiny appeared on the scene, casting the evil eye upon her brother.
Tiny taunted, but the Babe stood his ground.
Note tail of mouse -- still alive at that point -- in the jaws as Tiny runs away, sensing our desire to deprive her of her quarry.
Later on, Tuck called out, "Tiny's got a mouse!" She has her instincts, and we've got ours. A sucker for beedy little eyes and bucked teeth, we went to the mouse's rescue, chasing Tiny upstairs and down. At one point, she dropped the mouse, and we moved in, grabbing it up in a dish towel as she looked on, Miss Moppet style. We released the mouse "into the wild" outside the back door and went back to our work. After lunch, Tiny went outside again, recaptured the mouse and dispatched it according to her original plan. As Auda Abu Tayi said in Lawrence of Arabia, "Ah, it was written, then. Better to have left him."
Update: Carnival of the Cats #102 is open for business at Catcall, Laurence Simon's big-media blog at the Houston Chronicle's chroncom.
I loved the tiny/baby/closet pic - an exchange I often see between my two furry kids - especially cute when the one controlling the "high ground" slowly reaches out a fluffy paw and gives the other a tentative bat on the noggin.

Sissy, who needs stars/Oscars when we have Baby and Tiny? They're incredibly photogenic and their acting is superb! Your posts about the two always make me laugh! Thanks for the smiles.
