Fashion statements

Women look so ugly in scarves unless they are tied behind their necks as in the case of the gorgeous gal above in orange [via Michael Yon] -- not to mention the bride in the background -- compared with the disagreeable-faced woman to her right. They're called babushkas -- grandmother -- for a reason. Like anyone, all kinds of gals have all kinds of rationales for whatever, including why they "choose" to wear a scarf or not. Take it or leave it, wear it or not, it's homely when it's tied under the chin. Then there are the men. The male Saudis' head scarves are gorgeous . . . Note they are not tied under the chin as are the veiled women's. Fashion statements are huge amongst the animals of this world, including humans.

Even if it's soft and silky, it's still ugly when tied under the chin. :)

I remember when I was a little girl my maternal grandmother wore scarves tied under her neck. They were definitely utilitarian scarves and not worn to look pretty even though she was willowy, twinkly eyed and whimsical all her life. I never liked scarves and still don't to this day. Too much fuss for me. I do recall that Grace Kelly wore a scarf in some of her movies and she always looked gorgeous.
