Meatloaf with mozzarella for supper tonight. Plus some chicken and sausage (upper right) for sandwiches tomorrow. We got the idea from Jami Leigh's Mozzarella Meatballs at this week's Carnival of the Recipes at The Glittering Eye. The point was to stuff your meatballs with chunks of mozzarella. We used our own fave meatloaf recipe, developed through the years, with onion, garlic, bread crumbs and apple-strawberry mix baked at 350o -- what else? -- for one hour. Served it on top of a bed of pasta with tomato sauce.
A histrionics lesson from a self-professed ill bred and grammatically challenged member of Generation X calling himself An American Patriot in comments to our "Making the world safe for the enemies of democracy" post:
You people should be ashamed of yourselves for being whitewashed into believing that this war is about combating the War on Terror. This war is about securing oil-fields for the corporate elite. This war is about us becoming the Imperialists. This war is about us becoming the tyrants. Open your eyes.
"Us becoming the Imperialists"? Try "Our becoming the Imperialists," son -- Alex Jones, to be precise -- and get back to us after you've done your homework. Also, try reading beyond the tired, dog-eared anti-American playbook before telling us what you "think." We were struck with the all-about-me language of the youngster's introductory paragraph, with eleven -- count 'em -- I's, as in "I am quite successful financially, and have earned my way to the top through good old-fashioned hard work." Wow. Not only that, but
Several of my family members have served in the Armed Forces.
We're in MoDo "absolute moral authority" territory here. Should we just put a cover on our ceramic Piglet and acknowledge that we are not worthy of expressing our opinions? The sandbox denizen continues:
I have no time for arguments postulated by idiots like yourselves who are too lazy to do the research and instead believe everything that is spoon-fed to them on CNN and Fox News. Imbeciles.
We take it as a badge of honor that a toddler like this -- young enough to be our son or even our grandson (not to mention unable to distinguish between CNN and Fox News) -- has no time for arguments postulated by "idiots" like us. Normally the grandma types are ignored. But how sad that the "kids taday" like this little guy are working without tools: No historical perspective, no command of the language, no respect for their elders. Plus ça change, but as with everything else, while human nature never changes, the technology does, allowing clueless individuals to write and promulgate their ugly narratives large through no grandeur of their own. Just one step removed from the terrorists themselves, full of themselves -- the importance of being noticed -- as all of us are, but with no sense of something larger than themselves, even as they have potential access to WMDs developed through the decades by their betters. Now we ask you, Alex Jones, who should be ashamed of themselves? But of course. The answer is ourselves. PERIOD.
Well-said, Sissy.
Of course, some grandma-types

will not be ignored. I blame the crochet.

Thanks so much, Dave, for something delightfully different. Wicked fun. And thank you again, Jami, for feeding my fancy.

LOL - I went to read the "comment" - I just love how that "American Patriot" will step up to defend the country if it's taken over by tyrants... Of course he/she doesn't plan on doing a thing before that I see.
It smacks of being a "chain comment" that someone wrote and goes around posting on various blogs to see the reaction.
Sadly our poor "American Patriot" never learned any sort of logic. Apparently the Patriot Act was the end of all civil liberties in this country - yet he/she is still able to express such views... and without the fear of the police breaking down the door tonight and dragging him/her to a jail never to be seen again. We won't even begin to show all the holes in the rest of the rant.
All in all an amusing pastime - watching lunatics rave.

Thomas Jefferson (1743, Albermarle County, VA - July 4, 1826, Monticello, VA), Third President of the United States (1801 - 1809)
A little rebellion now and then is a good thing. Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God. In order to flourish, the tree of Liberty needs the blood of patriots and tyrants.
-Thomas Jefferson
A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both and deserve neither.
-Thomas Jefferson
You should also educate yourself by reading the Federalist Papers as your next assignment in your 'Histrionics' lesson.
Incidentally, I am not Alex Jones.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

And when you are finished reading the Founding Fathers intentions for our country written in layman's terms that perhaps you may be able to grasp, then you should continue your study of the Patriot Act here, the provisions of which I highly doubt you are aware of. Not police banging down doors, but private searches of private property while you are away and phone taps to hear your every conversation.
Shame on you fools! You are giving our country away. It's difficult to fathom that you fly the flag of the United States of America!

God Bless America.
Land that I love
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies ,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America
My home sweet home.
God Bless America,
Land that I love
Stand beside her,
And guide her,
Through the night
With the light from above,
From the mountains,
To the prairies,
To the ocean,
White with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

Feh...you can't argue with whippersnappers, they know EVERYTHING.
Didn't you? Heck I was even a *spit*Liberal*spit* in my mispent yute.
The Mother-in-law was recently relating a story about one of our cousin's teenagers. As I was nodding along in disapproval I realized I did exactly the same thing when her son and I were dating.
The MIL waited forty years for that chicken to return to the roost...which is another whole topic. ;^)

Seems that the only history our GenX'er has read is the Federalist Papers... (or should I say purports to have read since I have no way of knowing that any actual reading took place) apparently he/she is under the delusion that the perfect past exists and that civil liberties used to be greater. Maybe GenX should crack a few other history books and find out how many more civil liberties we have now - even with the evil Patriot Act in place. OTOH - at least this troll has cleaner language than most. *grin*

I know of an 80-year-old who flew in bombers over Germany in WWII and is smart enough to have become a millionare stock market analyst who thinks the threat to the US is Born Again Christians and not Muslim extermists. He says the war is all Bush's fault. It is a weird, weird world with some mighty weird people.
