"Wear it well, if not proudly," reads the citation for The Scarlet Badge of Victimhood at Are You Conservative?
"Pity or scorn. The choice is yours. Honor is not an option" writes the proprietor of a new blog on our cyberhorizon, Are You Conservative? in a brilliant, illustrated (Photoshopped? image above) takeoff of a military award citation for bravery. Just as the nation's Medal of Honor is the "highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States," so too -- in the parallel universe of "the real heroes in the global war against terror . . . East Coast Journalists, West Coast Celebrities, and Ivy League Book Sniffers" -- the Scarlet Badge of Victimhood is the highest award which can be bestowed upon an individual who is not a member of the Left and Our Loyal Legions in the Press (LOLLP):
In an admittedly shameless attempt to feign support for U.S. troops serving in Iraq (because it would be political suicide to turn on you prematurely), it is with disingenuous sincerity we cleverly present you with this medal of dishonor.
Cindy Shaheen facilitators, take note:
It's one thing to watch the LOLLP deprive US soldiers their due, by portraying them as victims rather than heroes, but when they latch onto and exploit grieving family members of the fallen, encouraging them to disavow and dishonor a loved one's noble calling, it is nothing short of wicked.
This is the same kind of wickedness that defeated our military in Vietnam, and those under its spell aim to recreate/relive their hippie heydays via the Iraq war.
It has nothing to do with Cindy. She is but a prop in the LLOLP's all-about-me, anti-Bush, give-peace-a-chance fantasy.
"Ivy League Book Sniffers"
Ah yes, the reliable anti-intellectualism of the kneejerk right. Well, my hat's off to you anyway, because I'm sure your strong support of the war in Iraq translates into action. Right? You _have_ enlisted, or encouraged your children to join the Army or Marines.
Right?
