"Common sense has found an advocate," says Lynne Cheney re the Independent Women's Forum.
"Thanks to The Anchoress, we’re now alert to The Cotillion, a must-bookmark blog-ring run by and for smart conservative women," writes Charlotte Allen of the Inkwell blog at the Independent Women's Forum:
We love developments like The Cotillion and the galaxy of winger-female blogs that service it, because they refute the feminista canard that the phrase "conservative women" is an oxymoron. We regularly receive hate e-mails from lefties here at InkWell (sometimes we post ’em, sometimes we don’t) that accuse The Other Charlotte and me of actually being men, sometimes "fat, bald men" (as one writer put it), sometimes men with undersize genitals (why not oversize genitals? Who knows?). So it’s a delight to know that we’re not alone--and may our tribe of troglodyte blogstresses increase!
According to their gorgeous website -- a tasty and tasteful piece of eye candy in sunrise colors of red, orange, yellow and purple -- the IWF "was established to combat the women-as-victim, pro-big-government ideology of radical feminism." We like the sound of that. So does Lynn Cheney, whose endorsement graces their banner:
At last, thanks to the Independent Women's Forum, common sense has found an advocate.
Totally awesome. We adore the Vice President's wife, big time. Here's how the women of IWF carry out their mission:
Our panel of experts examine legal, political, domestic and foreign policy issues, particularly as they pertain to women. Whether for print, radio, broadcast or web-based media, IWF's experts provide thoughtful and provocative commentary and analysis.
They recently co-sponsored a National Press Club event featuring the Iraqi Women’s Educational Institute (IWEI), a joint project of the American Islamic Congress, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, and the IWF, which "supports efforts by Iraqi women leaders to establish equal rights for women in the new constitution." Excuse us, but we've got some reading to do.
With the wealth of intelligent thinking available from women and men in the blogosphere, I would say things are looking up. MSM also know as the Mighty Stupid Media is facing loss of advertising if it doesn't get with the real world.
