"This banner says it all," writes Claire of e-Claire in a one-picture-is-worth-a-thousand-words moment of clarity.
"We need to know what's out there. I was shocked again," writes Claire of e-Claire re the latest report of a recent "fragging" -- a Vietnam term denoting the murder of officers by soldiers under their command -- on the part of one of our troops in Baghdad, noting "the obligatory excuse paragraph" in an AP report:
Martinez's family had been touched by a string of recent tragedies . . . recently lost his home to a fire and moved back to his childhood residence with his father in Troy . . . His mother also had died in recent years.
"Oh, well -- that's ok, then . . . stressed and depressed, perhaps he heard 'voices?'" comments Claire. It sounds like a homegrown version of "why do they hate us?" Always the benefit of the doubt for the perpetrator and guilty until proven innocent for the corpse.
As E.D, Hill on Fox&Friends is saying re last week's Dick Durban "reductio ad Hitlerium" unpleasantness, "There are misplaced priorities." Moments later, Mort Kondrake avers that Durban's remarks and subsequent non-retraction pseudo-apology were "insulting to U.S. Armed forces. Now he's opened himself up to endless criticism on the part of Republicans to demonstrate that the Democratic leadership is over the top. They've decided they're all going to stonewall together."
Better than all the others that have been tried, but just barely, this democratic republic of ours. For more things better than all the others big time, check out the belles of the ball at the latest Cotillion, hot off the press.
