We love pork -- whether squealing and running about the sty on their cute little cloven trotters or sweet and savory on the plate -- but adorable and smart and delicious as we know the Suidae to be (Charlotte's Web's "What a pig" comes to mind), they're no match for the Felidae. Remember the piggies' totalitarian tendencies in Animal Farm ("some pigs are more equal than others"), and then think of what a cat would do. No feline, having read or not read Hayek, would ever dream of buying into the progressivist fallacy of collectivism. They're individualists all the way.
Consider Laurence Simon, the Father of All Cat Bloggers, vs. Steven H., AKA Hog on Ice. Steven made a big, spikey splash in the blogosphere the other day with a one-day wonder, Huffington's Toast. We even enjoyed (suffered?) a mini Toastalanche because we were the butt of one of his jokes, but Laurence, with his Huffington is Full of Crap, had the last laugh. While the Hog is whining that nobody loves him anymore, HIFOC is basking in citations by Time, Newsweek (gak) and the Washington Post [via Mind of Mog]. Some pigs are more equal than others, indeed.
Update 16 years later at Alex Horsman's request: Check out "Friedrich A. Hayek Quotes on Socialism, Economics and more."
Imagine what would happen if HT and HIFOC merged forces.

If I knew who wrote that piece that pissed Sissy off, I would break my foot off in their ass.

It's not NICE to p*** off Mother Sissy. All is forgiven, Steve H. Just remember to spell my name correctly. :)

Er, not to place myself in the sights, but isn't that "Some Pig"?
I promise not to duck if I'm wrong.

It's true that a cat would never buy into totalitarianism, but I can see a cat embracing monarchy and invoking a divine right of cats.
