Galloway's testimony was "a complete sideshow," comments Claudia Rosett, Wall Street Journal columnist and journalist in residence at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
"Did Galloway get the better of Senator Coleman?" David Asman of FOXNews is asking Oil-for-Food maven Claudia Rosett re yesterday's hearing:
Rosett: He'd be great with the circus, but trusting him would be like sending your kid to the circus with Michael Jackson. [Galloway's agent, Fawaz] Zarauyat was conducting big transactions with Saddam [and] gave big bucks to Galloway's foundation. Some of the evidence was destroyed. We don't have the complete financial records.
Asman: What about the original list of persons purported to be involved in Oil-for-Food published in an Iraqi newspaper? He said it was made up to discredit him. Did he win the PR battle yesterday?
Rosett: It's not a PR battle in the end. This was the biggest financial scam in history very likely. Galloway's testimony is a complete sideshow in the larger investigation.
Definitely a sideshow, as posted here yesterday. It's comforting to know investigative journalists of Claudia Rosett's stature are on the case.
