"Needless to say, my feet are in a lot of pain, but it is worth it because last night was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!" wrote our Beltway correspondent, Heather, way back on inauguration night, January 21, 2005.
Inaugural balls are one thing, but now Heather's having her hair done one seat away from the most powerful woman in the world. The latest via i-mail:
Heather to Goomp: . . . but I got my hair cut today, and you will never guess who was sitting right next to me . . . Condoleezza Rice!
Goomp to us: Heather travels in the right circles.
We: EGAD!!! Any more info?
Goomp: No, and she is still on line but left an auto message saying she is getting some things done.
Goomp is the font of such wonders as you never imagined. Besides begetting us three siblings -- Ben, Sis and Sue -- he was the first to get HiFi in our small New England academy town way back when in the Sixties -- or was it the Fifties? -- and through the years, he was always the first with every latest breakthrough concerning home computers. We were honored to be the one -- thanks to our Design School initiation -- to introduce him to the internet a coupla years back, and now he's Information Central in the nu-Q-lar family for all things Inside the Beltway.
I must say you make me blush with self-esteem. It doesn't come any better when you are 85 to be respected by your children.

Goomp often gets the news even before the parents! :) The well earned respect continues on through the generations.

Goomp is obviously a man to be admired & copied. Any advice for those others of us who have daughters (and sons) we want to admire, love & respect us into our golden years? 2 of mine are launching into those teen years, and I look anywhere and everywhere for all advice on how to keep the channels of love, respect and communication thriving. Its been a great ride so far, and I want to keep it that way.
Bring it on!
