"Old-style slime artist" (Kevin Drum's infelicitous phrase) John Hinderaker of PowerLine on FOXNews this morning notes that Dan Rather is still trying to claim those phony memos re GW's National Guard record might have been authentic.
"A large part of the conservative blogosphere is nothing more than old-style slime artists with a shiny new medium to abuse," writes all-knowing Kevin Drum [via Michelle Malkin], commenting on Garance Franke-Ruta's American Prospect article that blows the cover off us devious bloggers of the right:
Right-wing blogs . . . increasingly provide cover for professional operatives to conduct traditional politics by other means -- including campaigning against the established media. And instead of taking these bloggers for the political activists they are, all too often the established press has accepted their claims of being a new form of journalism. This will have to change -- or it will prove serious journalism’s undoing.
Campaigning against the established media? We're shocked, shocked. Not only that, but, adds Kevin, "another large part [of the conservative blogosphere] either wittingly or unwittingly passes along their swill as a supposed groundswell of grass roots outrage. Peek underneath the rock and it's not a pretty sight." No one but us slugs and sow bugs down here, sir.
Tiny -- with SpongeBob atop monitor, above -- shows no interest in clueless New York Times article on catblogging last October that featured "Friday Cat Blogging" founder Kevin Drum seven months after he had abandoned catblogging altogether.
You know, we've never cared for Kevin Drum's attitude, ever since he announced he was giving up catblogging because he couldn't take the pressure. Then there was his recent pronouncement on what a woman blogger wants. In answer to the question of why there are more male bloggers in the upper reaches of the vaunted Ecosystem, he seemed to rely not on research or deep thought but rather on the first thing that popped into his head: "Men are more comfortable with the food-fight nature of opinion writing." This from the man who seems practically in tears over us "old-style slime artists with a shiny new medium to abuse."
How enjoyable to see someone say such idiotic things... all us conservative bloggers are baaaddd... all the liberal bloggers are goooodddd. Looks like you have to agree with Kevin or you are slimy - how sweet of him.
Not to mention the tremendous compliment he pays to small bloggers like me... I'm too stupid apparently to know what kind of "swill" I am impartially passing along. Nice little robot that I am, I get my marching orders from the "big politically connected bloggers" and go right out to spread the word. Gee thanks Kev.
