"My son will be returning from his year-long deployment to Iraq," writes our blogpal Frank of The Cool Blue Blog:
He and the heros of the 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment (Golden Dragons) were in many of the hotspots; Najaf (twice), Tall Afar, Samarra (during operation Baton Rouge), Mosul (twice; most recently during the elections) and Kirkuk. Through all of this they lost no one as a result of hostile fire and only (how can I say only!) one soldier overall.
Now, they are returning to their home base in Hawaii.
And, as parents, we must suck it up and go visit our hero . . .
in Hawaii!!!!!
Halleluijah. This may be Ash Wednesday, but Easter is on the horizon. God bless to you and your loved ones, Frank. And thank you and your son for your service to this country and the cause of freedom.
