A cat, a mouse and thou beside me. Babe hams it up with Goomp's rose-and-baby's-breath bouquet, Susie's anniversary card and our Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse
Forgot to mention the Anniversary Menu from the other night. Grilled filet mignons wrapped in bacon and napped with Perfect Hollandaise, baked potatoes with dollops of sour cream, steamed artichokes dipped in yet more PH. Plus a lovely house salad with Ranch lite and individual Boston Creme Pies (no need to reinvent the wheel with today's super supermarket bakeries). Also baked a loaf of Pillsbury's French bread but forgot all about it and found it hard as a rock in the oven the next morning. Broken up into biscuit-sized pieces and thrown out into the side yard, this lousy lemon made a lovely lemonade of treats for local feral fauna.
We looked at cards and showed each other the ones we would have bought had we been going to buy cards -- several duplicates of ones we've given each other through the years plus a great new one with Sylvester the cat opening his arms wide when you open the card. As you get older, your Valentine's Day desires become more focused. A cat, a mouse and thou beside me pretty much cover all the bases these days. Oh, and the Wall Street Journal crossword puzzle online, which we deferred from last Friday for a special anniversary treat.
