Blogger extraordinaire Jeff Jarvis breaks through the glass ceiling.
WICKED COOL. The blogosphere's own Jeff Jarvis is on with Brigitte Quinn of FOXNews commenting on CBS's firing of Bush-bashing producer Mary Mapes, recommendation that three others leave and letting Dan Rather remain floundering in place:
The blogs have gained a new respect. The bloggers are read in network newsrooms. Bloggers are just like a bar. We are all critical.
There was a lot of buck passing here. Dan Rather should say whether he likes George Bush or not. It's a lie by omission. I think network newscasts will become smaller and smaller, and they will be marginalized.
Adds Bob Zelnick, chairman of the Department of Journalism at Boston University:
I still think there are more shoes to fall in the case of Rather.
Let the shoes fall where they may.
Update: A Buzzalanche. Good stuff.
It's times like this when I am very annoyed with our local cable company for not carrying FOX News. (who'da thunk that the Chicago area would be so liberal that they've managed to keep FOX off regular cable... *grin*) I'd even upgrade my service for that. As it is - I'd have to get a satelite dish... and I just don't watch enough tv to make it worth the effort.
I'm really happy to see Jeff made it onto FOX! That is very cool.
