"I just received an e-mailed invitation to an event which will feature Spirit of America, some of the Marines that work with SoA and the brothers from Iraq the Model," writes a hyped RobA of Fine? Why Fine? As a tried and true supporter of SoA, we received the same invitation, but since we won't be in the area, we're thrilled that RobA will be on the case:
They'll be in NYC on Monday for a two hour talk titled "Grass roots America, Grass Roots Iraq -- the Untold Story." This is so cool. I'm sure other bloggers will be there too, (definitely Jarvis and maybe other NY area peeps).
There will be other events in DC, LA, and Palo Alto. This is a unique opportunity for a clown like me to meet some people I consider to be real heroes of the GWOT; SoA, the Marines, and democracy-minded Iraqis.
These events are all part of SoA's continuing efforts to help building democratic foundations in Iraq. Currently, the "Friends of Iraq Blogger Challenge" is going on.
Then comes the fun part, for us, where RobA throws his support behind what Frank Lopinto calls "Sissy's Sewing Circle":
Personally, I'm throwin' in with Sissy and her niche drive for sewing machines for Iraq's women. To donate as part of Sissy's team, go here.
I'll be sure to post pictures and an account of the NYC event when I get back Monday night.
Yah! Can't wait to see those pix and hear what "the boys" -- Mohammed, Ali and Omar -- have to say.
Unfortunately, I don't have the technology to live-blog it but I'll take notes. On paper. With a pen.
