Babe in full cuddle mode this afternoon (left) and at the wheel heading Down East the other day joins Captain Ed of Captain's Quarters in endorsing George Bush for President.
"Captain's Quarters endorses George Bush For President." Our first impulse was a giggle, as here was a blogger -- albeit one of the greats -- coming right out to declare for a candidate just like the reflexively pro-Kerry (gak) New York Times or the 10 Nobel economists -- forget the latest economics Nobelist Edward Prescott, who says President George Bush's tax rate cuts were "pretty small" and should have been bigger -- or the Arab American Political Action Committee. When we read Captain Ed's excellent post, our heart swelled with pride and joy at being a member of this sphere -- this blogosphere -- where the very best thinking and writing from all corners of the earth are lent an ear:
Kerry cannot be trusted with executive power, especially in a time of war. America needs leaders who lead, not politicians who wet their finger and then bend with the wind. And with as many threats arrayed against us as we have, we need a president who will think of our security before his own polling numbers or the approbation of foreign leaders who actively work against us. Bush has demonstrated his willingness and ability to rise to these occasions, while Kerry has based his entire campaign on appeasement.
Oh, yes, and speaking of all corners of the earth, breathe in deeply these heartfelt words from Iraqi citizen Alaa of The Mesopotamian, a man who has been there and done that:
Well if Senator Kerry is such a good man, and he may well be, then it would be prudent to wait just another four years to elect him, after the job is done. And if this is interference in your national affairs by a foreigner, I am not going to give you any apology for it.
Hey, my first impulse was to giggle, too. If the Blogs for Bush logo and the Republican National Convention icons couldn't tell people how I intended to vote, that post probably wouldn't help anyway.
Thanks for the kind words, and for suppressing the giggle (if indeed you did!).
