Tim Blair just turned over another rock, and something called "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's war on journalism" crawled out. From its website:
"This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know."
Director/Producer Robert Greenwald told an interviewer that "part of the distribution pattern is through the Internet, so that the gatekeepers can’t stop us from getting the word out." As if. Ask Michael Moore about those mean old gatekeepers who prevented him from "getting the word out."
Greenwald's propaganda flicks include "the UN series": "Unprecedented," "Uncovered" and "the soon to be released 'Unconstitutional.'" You can probably guess where they're going with those titles: the stolen 2002 election (unprecedented), the campaign of lies that led us into war (uncovered) and, of course (unconstitutional), "how the Administration has cynically used the 9/11 tragedy to erode Civil Rights and quash dissent." Can you say paranoid?
Greenwald is a big-time filmmaker who has produced and/or directed 53 TV movies, miniseries and features, but as with so many Democrats, George W. Bush's presidency appears to have driven the poor fellow out of his mind. We did think the title "UN series" was inspired, though. Not FOR anything, just AGAINST GW. Greenwald is also a good judge of character, as witness his assessment of anti-Bush grandstander Joe Wilson:
Ambassador Joe Wilson is a smart, tough critter. They messed with the wrong guy. He has all the skills of a diplomat and the instincts of a hit man. He knows how the game is played, and he took on Saddam. Now he is taking on the Bushies; he won't bend or cave or run for cover. We are lucky to have him on our side, the side of the true patriots.
More fun facts about Greenwald and his "grassroots" pals:
The UN series of movies is brought to you by PUBLIC INTEREST PICTURES . . . "a 501(c)3 nonprofit tax-deductible organization that produces factual, issue-oriented documentaries that raise awareness about crucial societal problems that move people to take action. PIP documentaries are used by grassroots organizations as organizing and fundraising tools and are distributed on dvd, film, cable network television and theatrically in the US and abroad."
Greenwald partnered with MoveOn.org and the Centre for American Progress to produce the picture, which [had its] world premiere at Cannes.
"Uncovered: The War In Iraq" is set for US release during the Republican National Convention in New York.
They may want to rethink that release date. As we blogged here this morning, "Even Saddam himself believed his regime had weapons of mass destruction," according to [Sen. Pat] Roberts, head of the Senate Intelligence Committee. 'Course we heard about it on FOXNews, so how do we know WHAT to believe?
Update: Five years later, October 14, 2009, Greenwald's BDR has transmogrified into RLDR (Rush Limbaugh Derangement Syndrome), as Dan Riehl chronicles.
