Tiny and Baby by the dawn's early light. Eyes and ears and sixth sense on high alert: Raccoons out there last night. Tiny has one more day of antibiotics to go for that fever she came down with last week. Seems to be doing swimmingly.
Oh, and speaking of "The most alive is the wildest," here's a HawkCam update:
'Just talked with our MIT correspondent, Mark, who stopped by to pick up our hubby en route to Indianapolis for the Grand Prix (Mahmood take note). Mark just happened to be arriving at work a couple of weeks back when one of the young hawks took its first flight. The little gal -- larger and more active of the two babies, his sources inform him -- landed on some bicycle racks and kind of didn't know what to do next. The parent bird was calling from nearby with encouragement. Police put up some yellow tape around the racks to keep folks from interfering. Later that day, Mark looked out and noticed the youngster was back in the nest. A couple of days later, both brother and sister had left the nest for good. As the HawkCam folks themselves reported at the time, the young birds "have been seen around MIT, honing their flying and hunting skills."
Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly. I gotta love those beasts till I die.
