Bull. I've heard this over and over, sometimes with the dark implication that there must have been training in technique. As a 58-year-old US citizen, let me say I would be greatly humiliated and shamed by these acts - whichever side of the guard/prisoner equation I was on. Nor are they unknown in our own prison system.

Yes...I agree...No man or woman or cat wants to be humiliated. It's the nature of the beast. I suspect it's that book mentioned in the article (or somewhere I read about recently) that got talking heads to thinking it was peculiar to Arabs...Not.

Very good post. Hersh's piece is nothing but a hatchet job and not a very good one if you ask me.

Some techniques can be used to weaken a person's will to resist interrogation. Those are pretty universal I think, not unique to Arabs or anyone really.
