New York Senator Hillary! as Wellesley senior in 1969 and University of Chicago Political Asst. Prof. of Political Science Daniel W. Drezner today as Blogosphere Outsourcing Wizard
"I don't know what reality the Bush administration is living in, but it's certainly not the reality I represent, from one end of New York to the other," commented Hillary! the other day, responding to remarks by Treasury Secretary John Snow that outsourcing can be good for the economy:
Asked in an interview whether he thought outsourcing of jobs to other countries made the U.S. economy strong, Snow replied, "It's one aspect of trade and there can't be any doubt about the fact that trade makes ... America strong."
Hillary probably didn't have time to take "Economics 101" at Wellesley . . . too busy taking notes at the knee of her mentor, Saul [ends justify the means] Alinsky.
"Funny thing, though," says the blogosphere's Outsourcing Wizard, Daniel W. Drezner. "Snow appears to be right, according to this CNN report":
The outsourcing of prized information technology jobs overseas has created tens of thousands of new jobs in the United States, according to a recent study commissioned by the information technology industry . . .
According to this study, these benefits "ripple" through the economy, leading to about 90,000 net new jobs through the end of 2003. This effect, the study said, should produce a total of 317,000 net new jobs through 2008.
Don't confuse Hillary! with economic reality. Remember, as Marc Jacobs International President Robert Duffy said: "Senator Clinton is smart, compassionate, fair, and knows how to work with everyone in the interest of getting things done." Everyone except the economically savvy, it would seem.
