Where's my sis?
Where is my sparring partner? Baby seems to ask as he looks around post supper with no Tiny in sight this evening.
A hard day from sunrise to sunset with Tiny not eating anything for breakfast, our driving in -- Tuck, Tiny and ourselves -- under cover of darkness pre-sunrise this morning (a great way to beat the Boston rush hour) to Angell Memorial and leaving the sweetest girl ever was for tests. Best scenario is that her main problem has to do with feline asthma . . . Vet doesn't think it's lymphoma or heart disease, but radiologist reading today's x-ray is concerned. They're taking samples of whatever is infecting her lungs for lab analysis and doing an ultrasound to try to figure out what that mass is in the cavity under her lungs. Worried but hoping for the best.
Update: Doc called to say she's doing fine, but he wants to keep her overnight to watch her vital signs. The mass in the cavity beneath her lungs appears to be what he originally thought, a collapsed lobe, probably a result of her lifelong feline asthma . . . The stuff they drew from her lungs had lots of pus-ey germy things in it. He thinks we can pick her up to come home tomorrow morning.
Update II: Wednesday morning. New senior doctor -- Polina Vishkautsan -- is on Tiny's case. She's "very stable," eating well, grooming but "on oxygen" because of breathing difficulty following yesterday's procedure. The multiple symptoms "don't add up," so they will do more tests: Cardiologist evaluation plus "belly ultrasound." She did have a temperature yesterday, and they detected a heart murmer. Add to that her chest x-rays suggesting progressive chronic lower airway disease, the likely result of her lifelong feline asthma. Doc notes fluid (seen in x-rays) in membranes surrounding lungs -- not in lungs themselves -- is "worrisome." Are all her symptoms related to the asthma, or is there another disease process in play? Things to rule out before treating for asthma: Heart disease, chronic inflammation, cancer. Doc will call back around 3 p.m. to report. If Tiny has to stay over again, we can visit her between 6 and 7 and meet with the doctor.
Thank you so much to our empathetic readers for your kind words and prayers.

We are all pulling for Tiny.

Hoping Tiny feels better soon and that all the lab tests turn out normal. Asthma is rough even for kitties. Sissy I know how anxious you must be. It's awful when our babies are sick or hurt.
