Disputation

In fang and claw, or pen and key
The will to power surges;
With biting prose or sophistry
We bare our baser urges.

'Twas always thus, and will remain
We'd learn well to accept it;
"The blow was hard!" the weak complain–
The wiser just sidestepped it.

As blood runs hot, and hate runs cold
The tale of fuss and feuding
Remains the oldest story told;
No profit lies in brooding.

Most combats I will leave to those
Who choose it as their hobby–
Since wisdom wilts as anger grows
I'll wait out in the lobby.
