If birdseed be the food of love, play on? (photo by Watermark)
Checking in with Watermark, host of last Sunday's Carnival of the Cats, we came upon this awesome photographic proof of the asymmetry of the war between squirrels and humans. If you erect the bird-feeding station, the squirrels will come. Why do they hate us?

I tried, three years ago, for an entire spring to keep a bird feeder up and running. No dice. The rats with fuzzy tails kept getting into it - even when I greased the sides with lard.
They even ripped through the plexi-glass feed holder when they couldn't get their snouts down far enough to keep eating.
I hate them.

One can chase off squirrels with enough cats. Of course, the cats will also make life challenging for the birds. If only cats would listen to reason...
